Natural farming for the joy of nature.

Planting new habitats.
Since moving to the farm in 2022 we have planted 2.5 acres of woodland along the stream, widening the buffer stp of trees protecting the watercourse from soil runoff. We have planted 1800m of hedgerow, a small steep wooded area, and two orchards for our chickens to range.

Water for nature.
This winter we have installed 4 large ponds on the farm. Each body of water is an importance new habitat that increases the bio-abundace across the farm. We have also installed dams in the stream to help with flood prevention downstream and creat new pockets of water for wildlife.

Growing biodiversity
Pigs are great ecosystem engineers. After spending time on the land in the small rotational paddocks, the earth has been expertly and gently turned over. Mostly what grows back is an abundance of wildflowers, which are amazing for nature. We also sow herbal ley seeds, which produce plants that nourish the soil and provide tasty nutrient rich salad for the pigs when they are next in the paddock.
